Making "The Build Maker"-Championships great again!

    Postby Xardas » Tue May 02, 2017 5:07 pm

"Build your deck wisely and get the 1st rank" - that's what "The Build Maker" championships used to be in V2. Contrary to "To rule them all", you had a specific amount of pts, so you had to think well which cards to buy, as you weren't able to buy every card of the level.

However, it seems like every Deck Builder Champ in V3, you were only able to buy boosters. Boosters are a good idea for the normal mode, as you are more engaged into trading and refining cards. But imho, this mechainic should not be part of a "build your deck"-championship. Yes, just like 99% of other games, there is a luck factor in triple triad, and it's fine. But why adding a new, solely luck-dependent factor like boosters in every deck builder tournament?

CbbK, I know that buying single cards is different than in V2, as you only can buy limited quantities of cards which were refined by others at the card exchange desk. But wouldn't it be possible to throw in 999 copies of every single card which should be available in the champ, into the championship's card shop in every phase? This would make "The Build Maker" great again!

    Peace

Hi Xardas, I'll look for it.
Maybe with some minor changes it can be done ;)

    Hi
The current championship rules made me wonder, in what extent the issue of single-card purchase in champs has progressed.
CbbK, would you say that we can count on single card purchase on the next Build Maker champ? ;)

Wish we can have it as early as next phase.
Sucks to already have your fate sealed before even getting to the card select screen.

Cant we keep both formats and have a new championship with its own success?

Deck builder - Purchase single cards like V2.
Pack Builder - Purchase packs like V3.

Or simply alternate each time the champ is suggested, so next builder champ would be single cards (granted you look at your post-it note  ).

I actually like how it is now, cards are different, not everyone has the same OU hand and such. Makes things interesting.

I would like both formats also :)

Maybe some pack builders champs we could have a gain mode attached more often.
That way a player in Selphie's predicament could gain them or at least have a chance too.

You also run the risk of losing cards too ... not sure why I just stated the obvious but I'm not deleting now I've typed to much after.

Great Idea. Not to mention a "Pack Mode" can be another achievement on its own. It might be enough to get some guys to surface again.
